The Big Diversity Challenge series of events were developed to provide an opportunity for industry organisations who are seeking a unique way to promote the importance of equality diversity and inclusion amongst workforces.
There is an age old saying – ‘variety is the spice of life’ – and this couldn’t be more true than in the workplace. Companies who actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion will thrive and people of all backgrounds can come together and achieve success.
Over recent decades barriers have been broken down and as a society we have become accepting of the fact that not everyone fits the same mold. As a nation we are a diverse mix of genders, abilities and beliefs; so fundamentally it should follow that all workforces embrace the wealth of talent available when recruiting and retaining staff.
“Adopting diversity as a business strategy will make any company an attractive career choice to all, enhance staff morale, widen skill sets and retain staff. It will reduce recruitment overheads and deliver results.”
The first Big Diversity Challenge was launched in 2016 across the rail sector. A cross between “It’s a Knockout” and “Krypton Factor”, it is an all-inclusive event, created to provide companies with an opportunity to have fun, team build and network whilst undertaking mental and physical challenges in diverse teams, demonstrating the business benefit attained when companies improve diversity throughout their workforce.
‘People may be said to resemble not the bricks of which a house is built, but the pieces of a picture puzzle, each differing in shape, but matching the rest, and thus bringing out the picture.’ Felix Adler, political and social professor.
